Idle adjustment on a cold engine – Keihin II carburetor

Idle adjustment on a cold engine (opening the throttle)

If the engine idles constantly, it is most often the "fast" idle that needs to be adjusted. Before making adjustments, warm up the engine to operating temperature. Ignition settings and idle speed must be correct.

■ Connect the tachometer according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

■ Remove the air filter.

■ Disconnect the vacuum hose of the temperature controller.

■ Pull out the choke control”. Lever (1, lynx. 2.175) the starting throttle should rest against the bumper.

■ Start the engine.

■ Open the air damper fully with the lever (2).

■ Check the speed. If the rotational speed is different than 3500 ± 200 RPM, it must be reduced or increased, by compressing or expanding the notch in the lever shown by the lower arrow in the illustration 2.175.

Setting the start throttle

■ Pull out the choke control completely”. Lever (1, lynx. 2.176) the starting throttle should rest against the bumper.

■ Pusher (2) the pull-down actuator” push the lever (a) in the direction of the arrow.

■ Insert a drill bit with a diameter 2,2 mm between the damper edge and the wall of the passage. Permissible deviation ± 0.15 mm.

■ The damper setting is changed by compressing or widening the notch in the lever shown by the arrow in the illustration 2.176.
