The first model of a typical series 57, known as Normale, had an 8-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement 3257 cm3. There were two camshafts in the cylinder head. The engine was powerful 100 kW (1 35 KM) by 500 RPM, transferred to a 4-speed gearbox via a single-plate clutch. The valve clearance was regulated with caps of various thicknesses, on the valve stem. The instruction manual recommended: “The valves don't need to be adjusted frequently, therefore it is more advisable to send the car to our garage to remove the deposit”. The removal of the carbon deposits required the complete disassembly of the engine (cylinder head not removable). While waiting for the car to be repaired, customers enjoyed the Italian delicacies at the Hostellerie du Pur Sang hotel, alcohol drinks also from their own label and the art gallery of the sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti, Ettore's younger brother.

From 1938 model year 57 it was possible to buy with a more powerful engine with a compressor. Thanks to the supercharged engine of the model 57 C was developing power 118 kW (160 KM) by 5000 RPM. Chassis, in line with the Molsheim tradition, had stiff bridges. The square front axle was made of a single piece of steel with longitudinal leaf springs inserted. The rear axle was suspended on quarter-elliptical leaf springs.

Model 57 S, marked Surbaisse - crushed, carved by Jean Bugatti, was exhibited at the Paris Motor Show in 1936 r. The solution of the complete cover of the front wheels was interesting, part of which turned on the bends with the wheel.

However, the model was considered the most beautiful Bugatti model 57 SC Atlantic, its exotic exterior has made it one of the most fascinating cars, ever constructed.
