W 1919 r. the Italian audience was shown the car, which, after the Fiat-Zero, became the second milestone in the successful development of the plant. While after the war, most European manufacturers referred to their tried-and-tested z 1914 r.. Fiat surprised everyone with a completely new one, a sensational type 501. The design of the car was simple, but at the same time he was very powerful, reliable and economical. Its stylistic solution opened a new path in car development and became a model for European compact cars.

Inline car, 4-capacity cylinder engine 1406 cm3 was constructed by Carla Cavalli's lawyer, acting as Fiat's technical director. A masterpiece - Fiat 501 - this talented and persistent man showed his brilliant sense of mechanical construction, against the views of the environment who consider him only a man of paragraphs. In the years 1919-1926 almost 70 000 pieces of this car, also in demand on the international market. W 1924 r. in the torpedo version it was sold for 31 000 lira. It had a 4-speed gearbox, and both axles of the chassis are rigid, sprung with semi-elliptical springs. In its basic version, it developed the maximum speed 70 km/h. Also produced 2614 model 501 S with a more powerful engine, which developed speed to 100 km/h.

Fiat was not limited to producing just this one model. He was releasing a model at the same time 505, with a 4-cylinder engine 2,3 liter, and model 510, with a 6-cylinder engine 3,5 liter. W 1921 r. The Super Fiat is at the fore of the typical series 520 - the pride of the company - with a 12-cylinder V-shaped engine and displacement 6805 cm3. This technically interesting model was reportedly produced only 5 copies.

Super Fiats 520 developed maximum speed 120 km/h. It was a car, the stylistic development of which attempts were made to take into account the laws of aerodynamics. Unfortunately, this direction of car shape development was still hampered by the conservatism of buyers.
