Alexander Darracq founded the village of 1897 r. in Suresnes, the company Societe A.. Darracq, which soon had branches in Great Britain, in Italy and Germany.

The Italian branch of Darracq is formed in 1919 r. Anonymous Lombarda Factory, from which the renowned Alfa Romeo company grows after the First World War.

The Darracq company was the first to develop a car with an 8-cylinder engine. It was the so-called. Grandę Car Darracq, built in 1905 r. to break speed records; 8-V-cylinder engine, about the diameter of the cylinder 160 mm, piston stroke 140 mm and displacement 22,5 liter, he developed remarkable power 147 kW (200 KM) by 1200 RPM.

The car had a 4-cylinder engine with a cylinder capacity 1,4 liter. He was developing power 9,6 kW (13 KM) and reached maximum speed 70 km/h. The classic chassis with rigid axles was sprung with semi-elliptical springs. One model has been preserved to this day and is in the Auto-Museum der Spielgemeinde Nettelstadt in Westphalia.

The last Darracq car was produced in 1928 r. The company absorbed the French Talbot factory and merged with the English Sunbeam car factory, creating the company S.. T. D.
