Already in 1994 r. Italdesign stylists, working for half years 70. the problem of space rationalization, took up the challenge, preparing a concept car called Landau, referring to the exclusive horse-drawn vehicles of the last century. They used the Lexus GS floorboard in it 300, about the wheelbase 2780 mm, keeping its comfortable interior. At the same time, about the law 60 cm the length of the car was reduced, mainly shortening the rear overhang, height increased by 5 cm, and the width of 1,5 cm. This required moving the fuel tank under the rear seat and modifying the exhaust system. Black, the two-box body took on a more dynamic expression. Its silhouette is dominated by smooth and round lines, elliptical shapes. The glass roof enhances the spaciousness of the cabin and allows passengers to admire the view. There are five people inside, they sit slightly higher than in the prototype, which has a positive effect on visibility and comfort. A wide range of seat adjustments facilitates individual selection of the best position, and the sliding and folding rear seats allow for increased luggage capacity. You can get to it through the fifth door, composed of two horizontal parts. An interesting solution is the green front brake light, informing other road users about the commenced braking. The front brake light concept seems very interesting and helpful in dense city traffic. Its implementation will probably take a long time, since it took the League of Nations to determine the color of the traffic lights at intersections 25 years. From the series Lexus GS 300 the eight-cylinder was taken over, 32-V-valve engine, with displacement 4,0 dm3 and power 191 kW. It transmits all-wheel drive via a four-speed automatic transmission. The Lexus Landau concept, although it is many years old, a lot for a study, continues to strike with its pioneering uncompromising attitude.
