Bugatti

Bugatti's successes are above all the successes of an extraordinary personality in the automotive world - Ettore Bugatti. He was born 15 September 1881 r. in Milan as the son of a painter. He produced cars in German Alsace as a subject of the German Emperor, and then became a citizen of the French Republic. Sam considered himself Italian.

Already at the age of 20, Bugatti presented its first car at the motor show in Milan. The vehicle interested industrialists, and Bugatti with a license for the production of his cars was obtained by De Dietrich in Niederbronne in Alsace. Because his young age prevented him from signing the contract, he concluded it with the company through his father. Bugatti has built many successful models at the new plant, like for example. Peugeot-Bebe, Mathis Hermes. He even offered his models to Gasmotorenfabrik Deutz AG.

After these successes, Ettore Bugatti became independent. He was just thirty years old, when he started producing his own vehicles in Molsheim, Alsace. He called his first serial car thirteen (Type-13). Contrary to the unlucky number, the competitors achieved many successes in races.

Just on a small one 1,3 liter Bugatti 13, Ernest Friedrich ridiculed the huge Fiat, led by Hemery, winning second in the Le Mans race. Total produced 205 thirteen with OHC engine.

After World War I, Bugatti's company launched a racing version of the thirteen - type 22/23, who in the Grand Prix Brescia competition in 1921 of the year took first place. From then on, Bugatti-Brescia spread the fame of the factory in Molsheim - it began to be sold to private persons.

In the early 1920s, E.. Bugatti, called by his associates the Patron, he devoted himself mainly to the construction of cars, the result was the most successful racing model: 8-Bugatti cylinder 35. In the hands of famous players, such as: Chiron, Varzi, Dreyfus, de Vizcaya and others, cars of this brand achieved almost two thousand victories in the years 1924—1927.

Even such successes did not convince Bugatti, to increase serial production. The patron invested all profit in new ones, more and more perfect constructions. He was also known for his avarice. He even saved on his best drivers. Apparently he once offered Dreyfus a chassis instead of a salary.

W 1927 year in Molsheim was born another "best”. It was a new type 41, marked Royale - super luxurious, the most expensive and largest car in the world, only released in 6 whether 7 copies.

E. Bugatti died in 1947 year at the US Military Hospital in Neuilly. W Molsheim w 1951 r. attempts were made to restore the success of the company's cars to no avail, releasing a type 101 i 102.
